Minnesota Twins 2009 Schedule & PreviewManager Ron Gardenhire & Crew Set Sights on AL Central
Spring training brings high expectations for the 2009 Minnesota Twins, who missed last season's playoffs by a game. Here is a series-by-series schedule for the season.
One of the surest signs of Spring approaching: Pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring training in various locales around Arizona and Florida. Major League Baseball is soon to be underway again. For Minnesota Twins fans, the recently announced signing of free-agent third baseman Joe Crede was the best news they’d heard in a relatively quiet offseason. A season-ending one game playoff loss to the Chicago White Sox last September 30th sent the Twins home for the winter and fans warming their hands next to the hot stove. The 2009 season, the last to be played in the Metrodome before the 2010 opening of Target Field, carries with it the usual high hopes. Manager Ron Gardenhire has led his crew to 4 A.L. Central titles in the last 7 years, and nearly a 5th. That 5th is due in 2009. The Usual Preseason QuestionsAlong with the high expectations come the usual preseason-type questions:, Is the pitching staff well-rounded enough for the long season, particularly in light of Boof Bonser’s season-ending surgery? Will Micheal Cuddyer bounce back from an injury-riddled 2008 enough to contribute? Who will “step up to the plate” to assist Mauer & Morneau? The answer to these and all other Twins questions will soon be evident. Minnesota Twins 2009 Schedule, By SeriesSpace prohibits a full game-by-game schedule, but here is a series-by-series schedule for the entire 2009 Minnesota Twins season: (Home series in BOLD CAPS)
