The three "Rs" are still the best fantasy options at shortstop.

1. Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins

This guy will help you in every fantasy category. Ramirez led all the shortstops in home runs with 33. He hit .301, scored 125 runs, stole 35 bases and knocked in 67. That’s why he is the top fantasy shortstop.

2. Jose Reyes, New York Mets

Reyes is a great all-around fantasy shortstop. Over the past three seasons, he has averaged 16 home runs, 69 RBI, 65 stolen bases, and 118 runs scored while hitting .293. He is also durable, missing only fifteen games in his four full seasons.

3. Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies

Rollins struggled all season with injuries last year, and as a result, he had a slightly disappoint year (.277 BA, 11 HR, 59 RBI, 76 runs scored). He did, however, manage to swipe 47 bases, which was career-high. Rollins is now healthy, so you should expect him to match his three year averages of 22 home runs, 79 RBI, 114 runs, and 41 steals to go along with a .283 batting average.

4. Derek Jeter, New York Yankees

Yeah, everyone is saying that Jeter is old and he is on the decline. Maybe that’s the case, but he is worth a shot in 2009. Expect him to match his three-year averages of .322 BA, 13 HR, 73 RBI, 104 runs and 20 stolen bases.

5. J.J. Hardy, Milwaukee Brewers

Hardy produces, but he is incredibly streaky. Some weeks he will be a huge boon for your team. Other times, he will drive you nuts. Overall, Hardy, just 26 years old, is a good fantasy producer for a shortstop. In his two full seasons with the Brewers, he’s averaged .280 with 25 home runs, 77 RBI and 82 runs scored. He’ll only steal you a couple of bases, but his other numbers make Hardy one of the five best fantasy shortstops.

6. Stephen Drew, Arizona Diamondbacks

Drew hit .291 with 21 home runs, 67 RBI, 91 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. He is still developing, and in 2009, he surely has the potential to outdo his fantasy numbers from last season.

7. Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies

Tulowitzki won the Rookie of the Year award in 2007, but was limited by injuries last season. In 101 games, Tulowitzki hit .263 with only 8 home runs and 46 RBI. But when he was healthy in the month of September, Troy hit .330 with 3 home runs and 14 RBI in 24 games. This guy is loaded with talent, so expect him to hit closer to 20 home runs, drive in 90, and score 90 while hitting somewhere between .280 and .300.

8. Jhonny Peralta, Cleveland Indians

Jhonny Peralta is going to give you 20 home runs, 80 RBI, 80 runs and a .280 batting average.

9. Michael Young, Texas Rangers

He's a .300 career hitter who averages about 12 homers, 80 RBI, 100 runs and a handful of steals. His production dropped off last year, but he is still only 31 years old. Don't count him out.

10. Rafael Furcal, Los Angeles Dodgers

If this guy could stay healthy, he'd be a great fantasy shortstop. Look at his numbers from 2004 through 2006, when he was a solid fantasy player. His health is everything.
