2003 Steroid List Possibly Leaked to MediaCould the 2003 Steroid List now be in the Hands of the Public?
The 2003 steroid list is the list of confirmed steroid users that thought they were being tested anonymously back in 2003, but which got out to several groups of lawyers.
Is it really possible that the 2003 steroid list is now out in the public eye? According to several news sites as well as internet blogs, the 2003 baseball steroid list has indeed been leaked to the public, and this could really be bad news for Major League Baseball. Two questions now remain, the first being whether the 2003 steroid list is real, and the second being how will baseball respond if this steroid list does turn out to be the real thing? The History of the 2003 Steroid List Back in 2003, Major League Baseball was starting to see more instances where steroid use in the game could no longer be ignored. As a result, the player's union agreed to do some testing within its ranks to find out if steroids were actually a problem in baseball. The tests were supposed to be voluntary and anonymous, with the players taking the test under the allusion that even if they tested positive for steroids, nobody would even find out. The biggest problem with the testing was that once the survey was completed that the samples should have been destroyed. The samples were instead saved, and later confiscated during a series of raids. That led to the problem that suddenly some people knew who was in those samples, and there could certainly be a whole host of Government employees and lawyers that now know who is on the list. The Steroid List PlayersSeveral names from the 2003 steroid list have been leaked recently, including that of Alex Rodriquez and Sammy Sosa. With 100+ names on the list as having used steroids, it has become a big thorn in the side of baseball, as the names could be leaked one by one, keeping baseball and steroids linked in the news. It appears though, that someone may have actually released the whole list, and according to a news article on Associated Content and a Web Blog on baseball web-site RotoInfo.com the list could be out now. Some of the players on this list include Luis Gonzalez, Barry Bonds, Rafael Soriano, Ivan Rodriguez, and Roberto Alomar. The fall-out if these players are on the list could be immense, and it could be a huge black mark on baseball if future Hall of Fame players turn out to already be on the list of tainted players. If the list is real or not could come into play very soon, but a number of players are already going to have to defend themselves. Sources: Associated Content Article and RotoInfo Steroid List
